Joncie Sarratt is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Bachelors of the Arts in Music. She has designed for professional theatres in the triangle area including Burning Coal Theatre (Raleigh, NC) as well as for educational groups including UNC Pauper Players and UNC's Department of Dramatic Arts in Chapel Hill. She has studied as a Scenic Design intern for Playmakers Repertory Company, working with Playmaker's resident scenic designer McKay Coble. She has worked as a carpentry intern for Wolftrap Opera Company, and as a scenic painting intern for Arts for Arts (the producing company for the Wiennerstaats Oper, Volksoper, and Burgtheater).
Aside from scenic design, Joncie has extensive experience with stage management (working with groups that include NC Opera Company and Chuck Davis Dance Ensemble) and technical direction. Joncie has also worked in an assistant capacity for directors including Carl Ratner (Bayview Opera Festival's Le Nozze di Figaro) and designers including Stephanie Marum (Way to Heaven) and McKay Coble (Nicholas Nickleby). Awards for design include "Best Scenic Design" for the 2007 ITS design competition sponsored by North Carolina School of the Art's.
